WhatsApp has started testing its new subscription service, WhatsApp Plus, in several regions, including Pakistan. While the feature is still in its early phase, reports have revealed the expected monthly cost for users in the country.
According to details shared by beta tracking sources, WhatsApp Plus will cost around Rs 230 per month in Pakistan. This pricing places it among other digital subscription services, offering users access to premium features within the app.
The service is currently available to a limited number of users as part of a testing phase. It is only accessible on Android devices for now, with plans to expand availability in future updates.
Features included in WhatsApp Plus
WhatsApp Plus introduces a range of new features designed to enhance user experience. Subscribers will gain access to premium stickers with improved visual effects. These stickers include animations that appear across the chat screen, even for users who do not have the subscription.
The service also adds new customization options. Users can select from multiple app themes with a wide range of color choices. These include vibrant and darker tones, allowing users to personalize the look of their app.
In addition to themes, WhatsApp Plus offers new app icons. These include creative and stylized designs, along with simple and minimal options. Users can choose icons that match their personal preferences.
Another feature includes exclusive ringtones for notifications and calls. Subscribers will have access to several new sound options not available in the free version.
The subscription also increases the chat pin limit. Users can pin up to 20 chats at once, compared to only three in the standard version. This feature helps users manage conversations more efficiently.
WhatsApp Plus also introduces bulk settings for chats. Users can apply the same theme, ringtone, and notification preferences to multiple chats at once. These settings automatically apply to new chats added to the list.
Testing phase and future rollout
The premium service remains in a testing stage, with limited access for users on the latest version of the app. WhatsApp has not announced a full release date yet.
Industry observers note that the introduction of a subscription model marks a shift in WhatsApp’s approach. The platform, which has long remained free, is now exploring paid features to enhance user experience.
The pricing in Pakistan appears lower compared to some other regions. Reports suggest the service costs more in Europe and Mexico, making the local price relatively affordable.

As testing continues, more features and updates may be added before a wider rollout. The company is expected to refine the service based on user feedback during this phase.
WhatsApp Plus reflects the growing trend of apps offering premium features through subscriptions. As digital services evolve, users may see more options that combine free access with paid upgrades.
For now, Pakistani users can expect a gradual rollout as the platform continues testing and improving the subscription experience.
