Lets Talk about the Top Pakistani Drama 2021. It seems like just yesterday that we stepped into the New Year. But it has in fact been more than six months since the start of the year. But we aren’t talking about how fast time has flown; instead, we are here to take stalk of the dramas that have aired in the first half of the year. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, 2021 started with the excitement of looking forward to plenty of new dramas with some exciting stories and superb performances.

Raqs-e-Bismil

A tale of forbidden love, Raqs-e-Bismil succeeded in evoking emotions, it was a refreshing experience backed up by a wonderful script, good actors, and great directions.

One of the highpoints of Raqs-e-Bismil  was, undoubtedly, Imran Ashraf as Moosa. When Ashraf acts, it’s like a river flowing. He shed his inhibitions and delivered a flawless performance. Also, the fresh pairing of Imran and Sarah Khan got many hearts racing. The finale episode was a big hit and trended on top.

Raqeeb Se

Raqeeb Se is one of those beautifully touching dramas that tellsa story you didn’t know you desperately needed until you’ve seen it. The drama serial took us on a journey full of thrill and complexed emotions.

Right from the first episode to the last, Raqeeb Se hooked viewers with its towering performances by Noman Ejaz, Sania Saeed, Iqra Aziz, Faryal Mehmood and debutant Hadiqa Kiyani. The powerful combo of ace director Kashif Nisar and writer Bee Gul set a perfect example of beautiful storytelling. However, it was shocking to see that such a masterpiece couldn’t achieve the kind of viewership it deserved.

Dil Na Umeed Tau Nahi

Human trafficking, adolescent prostitution, child abuse, child marriages, and the curse of dowry; Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi was a socially relevant drama that shed light on the dark and murky world of such social evils. With top-notch performances by polished actors like Yumna Zaidi, Wahaj Ali, Naveed Shahzad, Yasra Rizvi, Omair Rana, Samiya Mumtaz, Nauman Ejaz, Adnan Shah Tipu and Noor ul Hassan, Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahioffered proportions of agony, hope and resilience.

Shehnai

Shehnai was a mass entertainer that had all the ingredients to attract viewers. A light-hearted family drama with a heavy dose of comedy and emotions was refreshing and gave us a much-needed break from the typical saas-bahu fights. The fresh pairing of Affan Waheed and Ramsha Khan, the solid script and superlative performances from a star-studded cast made Shehnaia super hit. Not to forget was the new-age OST crooned by AsimAzhar and Nehal Naseem that got us hooked each time we listened to it. 

Chupke Chupke

This Ramzan, Chupke Chupke was the perfect binge-worthy drama serial. Directed by Danish Nawaz, the drama serial was as light as air to wind down daily in the Holy month. 

The project authentically depicted a complex family story tossed with fun and romance, leaving viewers with a joyful heart. The family comedy emerged as a worldwide hit with multiple episodes trending on YouTube not just in Pakistan but in India and Bangladesh. 

Qayamat

Qayamat was a thought-provoking, hard-hitting play that brought to light the burning issues of misogyny and domestic abuse rampant in the country. The drama serial was essentially a triumph of writing. Writer Sarwat Nazir, made the viewers invested in the deliciously twisted narrative with wonderful characters placed ingeniously. Also the spectacular performances by Ahsan Khan as ‘Rashid’ and Amar Khan as ‘Samra’ were the highlights.

Fitoor

Faysal Qureshi, naam hi kafi hai. A drama gets hit when he is associated with it. The ongoing blockbuster Fitoor has earned rave reviews and smashing TRP’s ever since it aired. An intense love triangle backed by adept performances, high production values and ample twists and turns is keeping the viewers glued to the screens. Fitoor deserves every bit of praise coming its way. 

Pehli Si Muhabbat

No one can quite bring out the essence of love and beauty like director Anjum Shehzad. Pehli Se Muhabbat brought back the old-world charm of first love. The play is the comeback vehicle of Maya Ali and Shaheryar Munawar on Television. The acting chops and crackling chemistry of Ali and Munawar has translated into sky rocketing TRP’s. Also, the powerful acting debut of Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY) packs a solid punch. The ongoing play has got thumbs up from the critics and viewers.
