The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory forecasting widespread rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms across several parts of the country over the next four to six hours. The latest forecast highlights changing weather conditions in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan, urging residents to remain cautious.
According to the advisory released at 3:40 PM PST on July 21, 2026, isolated areas may also experience heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of flash flooding in vulnerable locations.
Rain expected in several provinces
The PMD expects rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in many districts of Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar, along with nearby areas.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the forecast covers Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, North and South Waziristan, Kalam, Karak, Tank, Swat, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Dera Ismail Khan.
The weather department has also predicted rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Musakhel, and Barkhan.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are also likely to receive rain during the forecast period.
PMD advises public to stay alert
The Meteorological Department has warned that isolated areas could receive heavy rainfall. Such conditions may lead to flash flooding in local streams, urban low lying areas, and other flood prone locations.
Authorities have advised residents to remain updated through official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions while traveling. Motorists should drive carefully during heavy rain, as reduced visibility and slippery roads may create hazardous conditions.
