The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) revises its guidelines for modifying the age on National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). Applicants can now request changes via the Pak ID mobile app, at NADRA offices, or through Pakistani embassies abroad.
NADRA’s updated rules offer a simpler process for age modifications. The eligibility for making age changes depends on the degree of modification and the required supporting documents.
For the first-time modification, applicants can request a change of up to five years. This requires a Pakistani passport, matriculation certificate, recent mark sheet, or service book.
For the second-time change, applicants can modify their age by up to 366 days. This requires a Pakistani or foreign passport, resident permit, or matric certificate.
In the case of age changes based on birth certificates, applicants can request changes up to one year using inland or foreign birth records.
A special case allows changes for unnatural sibling age differences (under seven months). In this case, applicants can request an age change of up to one year without additional documents.
NADRA also sets a fee structure based on the requested age modification:
- Up to 1 year: USD 5
- 1 to 2 years: USD 25
- 2 to 3 years: USD 40
- Over 3 years: USD 65
- Second modification attempt: USD 125
The new rules aim to make the process more transparent and accessible for overseas applicants. In earlier announcements, NADRA clarified that birth, death, and marriage registrations are governed by provincial laws and handled by Union Councils.
