Pakistan’s iconic singer Nayyara Noor passed away a few hours ago. She was born in Assam in November 1950.
Nayyara Noor was born in the Indian state of Assam and migrated to Pakistan with her family in the late 1950s. Her father was an active member of the All-India Muslim League and had hosted Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah during his trip to Assam before the partition in 1947.
Nayyara Noor was a God-gifted voice. She performed with legends like Mehdi Hassan. She revolutionized Urdu by singing the poems of poets like Faiz sahib.
Her voice was unique – crystal clear with a pathos that was unmatched. Her music has always been such an integral part of our lives for so many of us.
Indeed, Pakistan has lost a great legendary singer. Nayyara Noor ruled over the world with her soulful and the magical voice.
