Afkar-e-Taza’s Thinkfest 2018 all set to take place at Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore

[Lahore – 10th January, 2018]: Afkar-e-Taza’s Thinkfest 2018 all set to take place on 13th-14th January at Alhamra Arts Council, Mall Road, Lahore.

The Afkar-e-Taza ThinkFest realizes the vision of Iqbal, the aspirations of Jinnah, and the hopes of millions of Pakistanis in establishing a space for creative thinking, robust discussion and innovative ideas. It will bring together distinguished academics, writers, poets, artists, analysts, and performers from all over the world. Come, Think, Question – this is what Thinkfest is all about.

The Afkar-e-Taza ThinkFest 2018 will feature over two dozen international speakers who will engage with over sixty local experts on topics ranging from the fate of Muslims in Britain, to the Rohingya Crisis, the situation in the Middle East, the history of Afghanistan, women and violence in South Asian history, US-China relations, Extremism in universities, the Partition of 1947, and even the upcoming 2018 elections. Along with stimulating panel discussions, there will be an art installation and exhibit on the partition of 1947, and a screening of awarding wining documentaries.

There will be over 20 international speakers, 60 national speakers, and 30 academic institutions. Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace laureate for 2011 and Baroness Warsi, Chairman of the Conservative Party, UK, Rt. will be the keynote speakers at the event. The Alhamra Arts Council will be converted into an interactive space for panel discussions, theater performances, an art exhibition by Asad Hayee tited ‘Who’s afraid of Pakistani Art?’, a special exhibition on the Partition of 1947 by distinguished artist Farida Batool, a Film Festival featuring international films from 6 continents, a Speaker’s corner for author meet and greet, book signings, cultural performances and a music concert by the last of the Ghazal legends, Ustad Ghulam Ali.

The Afkar-e-Taza ThinkFest will start at 11am on both January 13 and 14, and will run till 7:30 pm on both days, with several concurrent sessions. There will also be an enticing food court in the garden featuring the best of traditional and modern cuisine. The best part is that entry to this festival is free for all. Daewoo and Destinations magazine are the official partners for this event.
