The Pakistan passport has once again been ranked among the least powerful in the world, holding the 103rd position in the latest 2025 Henley Passport Index. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Pakistan has remained in the same category, highlighting the country’s ongoing struggle for global mobility.
According to the index, Pakistani passport holders can access only 31 destinations without a visa, out of 227 global destinations. The country shares its position with Yemen, while only Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan are ranked lower.
Henley Passport Index, which ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without a prior visa. It reflects the disparities in global travel freedom. The index is updated quarterly using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
While countries such as Japan, Singapore, France, and Germany continue to dominate the top spots with visa-free access to over 190 destinations. Pakistani travelers face one of the most restrictive sets of travel options worldwide.

Regional comparisons also show a significant gap. India, for example, ranks 80th with visa-free access to 62 destinations, while Bangladesh stands at 97th. These contrasts further emphasize Pakistan’s limited diplomatic reach and the need for stronger international partnerships to enhance travel access.
Experts suggest that improving the passport’s ranking will require long-term efforts. Focusing on strengthening foreign relations, stabilize economic conditions, and expand mutual visa agreements with more countries.
Despite these challenges, the government has expressed its intent to negotiate more travel agreements to provide citizens with greater mobility in the coming years. However, until tangible changes are made, Pakistani travelers will continue to face major limitations when planning trips abroad.
