Highlights from Day 2 of HUM Bridal Couture Week 2018

After the glamorous showcase on day one, day two of the bridal extravaganza was a continuation of the glitz and bridal statements with the country’s acclaimed couturiers, bridal wear designers and retail brands. As always PHBCW left its audience stunned with its majestic stage, with the detailing of motifs on the catwalk, uniquely set for a one of kind fashion show.

The 2nd day showcased a fantastic line up of designers starting with Ziggi Menswear’s Burda, followed by Aisha Sadya Design House’s Jewels of Secret Garden. Faika Karim was next to present her collection titled Lisbon. Show one of the day concluded with retail brand Royal Tag’s Winter Stories 18-19. Show two of day two started with acclaimed couturier Umsha by Uzma Babar’s MuhabbatNaama. Everthine by Samar presented her collection Aashna, which was followed by Haris Shakeel’s Khwabeeda. Day two of the bridal extravaganza concluded with MNR Design Studio’s Heer. His collection redefined the beauty of heritage with a modern touch. Day 2 of PHBCW also had a star-studded line-up; the newly wed and the audiences favourite on and off screen couple Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt added grandeur to Ayesha Sadya Design House’s collection while couterier Faika Karim brought the cast of Pinky  Memsaab, Kiran Malik and Hajra Yamin on the ramp to walk for the brand. The handsome Faisal Qureshi showstopped for retail brand Royal Tag, whereas the superstar Saba Qamar, the social media sensation Zaid Ali T and his wife Yumna Ali T added allure to Umsha by Uzma Baber’s collection. The gorgeous Urwa Hocane showstopped for Everthine by Samar and the stunning Hira Mani walked the ramp for Haris Shakeel. Last but not least, the evergreen Reema Khan showstopped for MNR Design Studio.

Show director for PHBCW 2018 is Vaneeza Ahmed Ali. Hamna Amir is the official jewellery partner while Hair and Makeup is by the iconic Nabila. All public relations operations and media liaison are carried out by the in-house PR team of HUM Network Limited, along with show production and execution by the Special Projects and Events team at HUM Network Limited.

DESIGNERS’ INSPIRATIONS

Ziggi Menswear:Burda is a collection of luxury velvets, cotton, silk, chickenkari and flannel with lamb’s wool. The collection uses cutting edge digital print technology and advanced appliqueing methods to fuse patterns and fabrics together seamlessly in its design. Burda has a deep influence on Moroccan lifestyle and attire with its colonial influences through the centuries. The journey of this collection first started with the cloak that is embedded in the local men’s fashion. Embellishments and accessories are made to work effectively as part of a look that is well structured, with luxury and comfort put carefully into every garment.

Aisha Sadya Design House:Jewels of Secret Gardenis inspired by a fairy tale; a love story between a prince and his beloved. The prince, out of love for this enchanting and alluring girl who has no interest in the wealth of the world, creates the most beautiful garden in existenceas a place for them to meet and as a symbol of his love for her.He brings plants and flowers from all over the world in all the colours that an eye can perceive. Attracted by these exotic and rare flowers, birds, bees and butterflies of amazing hues and patterns flock around the secret garden.He fills the walkways with smooth tiles made from precious stones. He peppers the garden with fountains of the clearest waters and gives his beloved the jewels that nature grows everyday, the jewels that are as priceless as his love for her. The colours for the collection come from the fauna and flora of this exotic secret garden. The motifs and designs are inspired by the birds, tiles and flowers.

Faika Karim:Each piece of Faika Karim’s Lisbon Collection narrates its own story. The rich colour palette comprises gold, ivory and rusts paired with rich olive tones, sumptuous velvets and flashes of fuchsia. The collection comprises contemporary long shirts, peplum with traditional kiran and bridal pieces teamed with intricate handcrafted work with 3D, textures and gota like never seen before. Geometric lines and flows that echo every bride’s movement make each piecememorable and unique.

Royal Tag: Royal Tag’s collection Winter Stories 18-19 is inspiredby Turkish winter and its architecture. Winter in Turkey is very diverse just like its architecture with Asian, Arabic and European touch. The prints, details and cut line are inspired from Turkish architecture and its colours are the core of Winter Stories 18-19 collection’s palette.

Umsha by Uzma Babar:Umsha’s new bridal collection, MuhabbatNaama, is about her love for the bridal ensembles she has been creating since 2010. MuhabbatNaama is a complete collection for a bride-to-be, from nikkah to valima it has all the variation required as per the festivity of the Big Fat Pakistani wedding. Made of extravagant silhouettes and textures as old as time, this collection is a blend of both; modern world romance, and cultural values. MuhabbatNaama has contemporary silvers, affluent golds, popular pastels, flamboyant redsand is inspired by folklore, custom and conviction.

Everthine by Samar:Rediscover the surreal world of elegance and sensuality with this extraordinary bridal couture collection Aashna from Everthine by Samar.  The collection is inspired by the old-world charm and comprises a cascade of bridal gowns and lehengas that have a stunning rhapsody of metallic threads, textured sequins, beads and crystals. The collection strikes the right kind of festive chords with a perfect mood and colour palette.

Haris Shakeel:Khwabeeda is inspired by the moon and stars.  The collection is full of glitter, Swarovski stones and pearls with super modern cuts, dreamy colour pallet and intricately detailed embellishments.

MNR Design Studio: MNR Design Studio’s Heerredefines the beauty of heritage with a modern touch. The collection is dedicated to the label’saddawalas, hand embroiderers, masters, tailors, errand boys and to everybody else who is directly or indirectly involved in making every Heer’s dream outfit become a reality!
