In preparation for Hajj 2025, designated banks across Pakistan will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays to facilitate the submission of applications. This initiative aims to accommodate the high number of applicants and ensure a smooth process for prospective pilgrims.
Overwhelming Response to Hajj Applications
According to Radio Pakistan, over 24,000 applications have already been received by the designated banks since the process began earlier this week. Saudi Arabia has assigned Pakistan a total quota of 179,210 pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj, equally divided between government and private schemes.
Fifteen designated banks across the country began accepting applications from intending pilgrims on Monday. To further ease the process, these banks will operate on weekends from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm until the application deadline of December 3, 2024.
Payment Installments for Pilgrims
The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced a flexible payment plan for pilgrims under the government scheme. The total cost can be paid in three installments:
- Initial Payment: PKR 200,000 (approximately $717) with the application.
- Second Payment: PKR 400,000 (approximately $1,435) within ten days of the balloting process.
- Final Balance: Due by February 10, 2025.
The government will hold the lucky draw for the government scheme on December 6, 2024, to finalize the list of successful applicants.
Digital Support for Pilgrims
To further facilitate pilgrims, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has launched a mobile application designed to provide guidance and information throughout the Hajj journey. This app is expected to enhance convenience and address queries for both first-time and experienced pilgrims.
