Pakistan is moving toward AI driven governance with the development of a new digital platform designed to improve coordination, monitoring, and transparency across federal ministries and departments.
Officials discussed the initiative during a high level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema. The session focused on the Prime Minister’s Office System, also known as PMOS, which aims to modernize government operations through digital oversight tools.
The meeting included Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan Digital Authority Chairman Sohail Munir, and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office.
PMOS aims to improve coordination and transparency
Officials from the Pakistan Digital Authority presented a detailed demonstration of the AI powered PMOS platform during the meeting.
According to the briefing, the system will connect federal ministries with the Prime Minister’s Office through a centralized digital network. The platform will allow authorities to monitor government tasks, projects, and official assignments in real time.
The system will also enable ministries to receive official directives instantly. Decision makers will then track progress updates and monitor performance through the platform.
Officials believe the digital structure can help improve efficiency and strengthen accountability in government operations.
AI tools will support research and official tasks
The Pakistan Digital Authority also introduced a sovereign AI based GPT powered research system during the meeting.
According to officials, the tool will assist government departments by organizing previous directives, decisions, and official records into a searchable digital knowledge system.
Authorities said the platform could help officers access institutional information more quickly and support faster decision making.
The system also includes a virtual assistant feature designed to help officials manage workflows and complete administrative tasks more efficiently.
Officials stated that the AI tools will operate within official government frameworks and support internal governance processes.
Automated alerts designed for accountability
One major feature of the PMOS platform includes automated notifications for delayed or overdue tasks.
The system will send alerts directly to the accounts of federal secretaries and relevant officials whenever assignments remain incomplete beyond deadlines.
Authorities expect this feature to improve follow up procedures and encourage faster implementation of government decisions.
Government focuses on secure digital governance
During the meeting, Ahad Cheema appreciated the Pakistan Digital Authority for developing the platform and directed stakeholders to continue improving the system before full implementation.
