The Legend of Maula Jatt Review

The film industry of Pakistan was yet again craving a Blockbuster and here it comes. The most anticipated film of the year ”The Legend of Maula Jatt” is now out in Cinemas (13th October 2022) and is a sure blockbuster with mind blowing action, visuals and power pack performances.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is by far the most expensive film to come out of Pakistan. This intense and epic hero origin story, with a screenplay by Bilal Lashari and dialogues by Nasir Adeeb, is a hard reboot of the 1979 cult classic ‘Maula Jatt’. The film is directed by Bilal Lashari, known for his directorial debut, the box office megahit film ‘Waar’ and produced by Ammara Hikmat under the joint venture of Encyclomedia & Lashari films in association with AAA Motion Pictures.

The filmmakers have partnered with GeoFilms as their presenting media partner and it will be locally distributed by Nadeem Mandviwalla of Mandviwalla Entertainment, who is well known for his contribution to cinema. Internationally the film will be distributed by MovieGoers Entertainment.

2022 has been an erratic year with fewer highs and substantial lows puncturing the spirit of the film fraternity but here comes The Legend of Maula Jatt with a bang.

Storyline

From times untold where legends are written in soil with blood, a hero is born. Maula Jatt (Fawad Khan), a fierce prizefighter with a tortured past seeks vengeance against his arch nemesis Noori Natt (Hamza Ali Abbasi), the most feared warrior in the land of Punjab.

Loyalties are challenged and families torn apart in this epic tale of truth, honor and justice.

The Background

To let people know about some important facts of the storyline the film uses some of the old themes of the story but with a new twist which is very exciting and more fun for the fans of old Maula Jatt.

All in all, it’s not a remake but throughout a new story with many new characters while using just the lead characters and few famous dialogues from the 1979 version.

“This story has both the ‘Damsel in Distress’ and ‘Empowered Women’ which is quite different from the stereotypical representations of the women in previous entertainment industry where ‘a woman’s will’ was never a matter of concern.”

Performances

Starring Fawad Khan in the role of the legendary Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi as his arch nemesis, Noori Natt, the film reimagines cinema’s greatest rivalry. Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Shafqat Cheema, & Nayyer Ejaz are some of the other leading names that add to the film’s ensemble star cast.

The audiences will be stunned to see the breathtaking performances by ”Fawad Khan (In and as Maula Jatt) and Hamza Ali Abbasi (In and as Noori Natt)”. It will be right to say that we witnessed career best performances by both these actors. In support, Mahira Khan & Humaima Malick also did absolute justice to their roles. Apart from the beautiful appearance, Mahira also seems to be very fluent in speaking Punjabi proving that she has worked hard to achieve the proper accent needed for the role.

Playing Fawad Khan’s younger brother in the film Faris Shafi is one character which makes you laugh and you will love every bit of it.

Fawad Khan has fully transformed himself for the role to showcase the proper look of Maula Jatt and the texture of his voice is completely different which actually matches the tone of a Punjabi hero.

Hamza Ali Abbasi’s character appearance is more different from the earlier ‘Noori Natt’ which was played by Mustafa Qureshi Sahab. Hamza has put up a very diverse appearance, his facial expression and overall look is very eye-catching for the viewers.

Our Verdict

On the whole, The Legend of Maula Jatt is akin to a mouthwatering meal that satiates the craving of those who relish action-packed flicks. Other than the performances and storyline the visuals make the look of the film larger than life with use of some extremely kickass affects, color pelleting and background score.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is Highly recommended and is a sure box office smasher. Go for it!
