Sindh is facing a severe heatwave, affecting several cities and regions. Larkana city, the historic site of Mohenjo-daro, and other areas within the Larkana Division are experiencing extreme heat. According to the Meteorological Department, a heatwave alert has been issued for these regions. This alert indicates that the current spell of intense heat will last until April 18.
Daytime temperatures across the Larkana Division may reach between 48 to 50 degrees Celsius. Cities such as Larkana, Mohenjo-daro, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Qambar Shahdadkot, and Kandhkot are likely to remain under severe heatwave conditions during this period. These regions will experience extreme temperatures that pose risks to health, particularly to vulnerable groups.
The intense heat can lead to dehydration and heatstroke, especially during the hottest parts of the day. The government and health authorities urge residents to stay indoors, drink plenty of water, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Schools and other institutions may issue guidelines to protect students and staff from the adverse effects of the heatwave.
