Tecno has unveiled a new foldable concept that brings a fresh design to the table. the Tecno Tri Fold Phone, officially known as the Phantom Ultimate G Fold. Unlike its predecessor, the G Fold folds inward to protect the screen while still offering a large, flexible display when open.
This inward folding design is a shift from the outward-folding Phantom Ultimate 2, which left the display more exposed. The new G Fold keeps the screen safe by enclosing the 9.94-inch main display when folded. This makes it more durable and practical for everyday use.
Tecno G Fold Offers New Hinge Design and Slim Build
Tecno’s tri-fold design uses a dual-hinge system. A smaller hinge folds one-third of the display in a teardrop shape, while a larger hinge folds the remaining two-thirds over it. A self-locking mechanism ensures the phone stays shut securely.
When folded, the G Fold measures just 11.49mm in thickness. When fully opened, it gets as thin as 3.49mm. That’s thinner than Huawei’s tri-fold phone, which measures up to 12.8mm when folded. Though the G Fold is slightly thicker than Tecno’s previous Ultimate 2, the added cover screen gives users more functionality and protection, making the trade-off worthwhile.
The G Fold houses a 5,000mAh+ battery, which is impressive for a slim tri-fold design. While it doesn’t match Huawei’s 5,600mAh capacity, it still shows Tecno’s progress in folding tech.

Tecno built the phone using ultra-high-strength steel and a Titan Fiber plate. These materials give the phone rigidity without making it too heavy.
The camera system is a triple-camera setup placed on the middle third of the fold. This design allows the phone to act like a tripod for stable shots, thanks to its flexible hinges. Sensor and lens details are still under wraps.
While the Tecno Tri Fold Phone is not yet set for commercial release, the company will showcase the concept at MWC 2026. Fans can expect to see it alongside upcoming devices from the Phantom V Fold and V Flip lines.
