The official teaser of Shoaib Akhtar biopic ”Rawalpindi Express” released

The official teaser of upcoming, highly anticipated biopic on world record holder fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been revealed. Rawalpindi Express is a Q Films Production directed by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser and penned down by Qaiser Nawaz.

As seen in the first look some major changes can be seen, with Mirza Gohar Rasheed stepping in to play the cricketing legend instead of Umair Jaswal.

Few months earlier Shoaib Akhtar disassociated himself from his biopic as both parties failed to reach an agreement. However, the makers are all set for the release as they revealed the first look of the film with a caption that said:-

United by a common dream, our dedicated team overcame obstacles against all odds, we turned every hurdle into a stepping stone, shaping a legendary tale of determination and triumph.

The Teaser

As per the revealed Teaser, Gohar Rasheed takes centre stage as the alleged speedster Shoaib Akhtar. A journey of childhood struggles, battles with numerous elements, and a rise to success can be mapped through the official first look of Rawalpindi Express. However, with an intense soundscape accompanying the teaser, one cannot help but feel that the “biopic” may just be a highly dramatized version of events.

Shoaib Akhtar is a Pakistani former cricketer who is regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in modern cricket. He made his Test debut in November 1997 and played his first One Day International four months later. He played on Pakistan’s Cricket Team as an attacking fast bowler. Akhtar’s run of impressive performances started in the 1990s.

In 1999, during a pre-World Cup series against India, he rose to prominence. It was followed by outstanding bowling performances in Sharjah and later in 1999 Cricket World Cup. His most significant performance was in India in 1999 when he captured eight wickets in the Asian Test championship match at Calcutta – including the wickets of Indian batsmen Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar when he bowled both batmsen off successive deliveries. It was the first ball he ever bowled to Tendulkar.

Shoaib Akhtar is regarded as the fastest bowler in the history of cricket and has bowled fastest delivery officially recorded at a speed of 161.3 kph. Akhtar has a number of fast bowling records. He has bowled at speeds of 161.3kph, 160kph 3x, 159kph and 158.4kph. The fastest three were against New Zealand in 2002 and the other three were against Sri Lanka in 2002 also. He was the first bowler in the history of cricket to have been recorded to bowl over 100 mph.
