Every year, hundreds of Pakistani dramas are broadcast on various channels. A lineup of upcoming dramas is normally in the works before a new season of dramas airs. There was a brief respite during the pandemic’s initial strict lockdown, but there was no stopping after that. This time the drama is something new and unique — the drama Pardes is all set to hit the screens.
Shaista Lodhi has returned to the screen after a three-year hiatus with Marina Khan’s upcoming series Pardes. Let’s dive into it.
Pardes Story Highlight:
The plot of Pardes is being hailed as one that people can relate to.
The show is about people who live in another country but have family in their home country. It is not uncommon for a man to work in another country while his family remains in Pakistan. The show is about how the husband loses out on a lot of bonding and happiness with his family, according to Lodhi’s spokesperson.

Shaista Lodhi On Pardes:
Lodhi spoke about her character, giving an insight into the story and how her character — a woman who is home while her husband works abroad — develops with each episode.

“Women from desi families are very strong-headed and can do anything for their families, their homes, and the people living in it. They are very sacrificing despite the fact that life isn’t very adjusting for them, but they find ways to adjust around it. So the character is very relatable — just like the aunts we see in our homes,” she said.
“These women are very calm and composed and people believe that just because they are involved in everyday domestic affairs, they might not be very intelligent. But a traditional, South Asian woman is very solid — and that is who Zubaida is in this story.”
Dig To Pardes, Shaista Lodhi, & Other Cast:
Humayun Saeed approached Lodhi about the project, and she agreed because of Marina Khan. She taught her everything from punctuality to the finer points of acting, such as how to look the part and transform herself into someone who appeared tired and exhausted on screen.
Lodhi had to change her style and slow down her fast-paced life in order to get into character. Working on the project with Sarmad Khoosat has inspired Lodhi to take on more acting roles in the future.

None of the cast members have openly spoken about the upcoming drama. However, they have been posting pictures from the set, hinting that a surprise awaits viewers. Atiqa Odho recently shared a picture with Marina Khan, stating, “After years us two #oldfriends are working on something together again.”
