Pakistan’s U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Squad Announced

Excitement is building as the 15-player squad for Pakistan’s U19 team in the upcoming ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup has been announced, and Saad Baig is set to lead the charge as captain and wicketkeeper. The tournament is scheduled to take place in South Africa from January 19 to February 11, 2024.

A familiar face from the previous edition of the U19 World Cup in West Indies (January-February 2022), Ali Asfand, joins the squad alongside Mohammad Zeeshan, bringing valuable experience to the team.

Expressing his confidence in the team, Chairman Junior Selection Committee Sohail Tanvir congratulated the selected players, emphasizing the squad’s balance and potential to perform well in the World Cup. He highlighted the strategic consideration of South Africa’s conditions, with pitches favoring pace bowling, and the team’s comprehensive approach to covering all aspects of the game.

The support staff accompanying the young talents includes Shoaib Mohammad (Team Manager), Mohammad Yousaf (Head Coach), Rehan Riaz (Bowling Coach), Mansoor Amjad (Fielding Coach), Muhammad Masroor (Assistant Batting Coach), Umer Rashid Dar (Assistant Coach), Hafiz Naeem Ul Rasul (Team Physio), Usman Hashmi (Team Analyst), and Imran Ullah (Strength & Conditioning Coach).

The journey to World Cup glory begins with a training camp, set to take place in Lahore from December 28, 2023, to January 6, 2024.
