Pakistan Records Second Warmest Year in Over Six Decades

Pakistan experienced one of its hottest years on record in 2025, according to the latest Pakistan Economic Survey released by the government.

The report revealed that 2025 ranked as the second warmest year in the country during the past 65 years. Officials recorded the national annual mean temperature at 23.9 degrees Celsius.

Economic Survey highlights rising temperatures

The survey showed that temperatures remained unusually high throughout the year across several regions of Pakistan. Climate experts believe the rising temperatures reflect the growing impact of changing weather patterns and extreme climate conditions.

The findings also highlighted below average rainfall during the same period. According to the report, national rainfall remained around 3 percent lower than average levels in 2025.

The combination of intense heat and lower rainfall affected weather conditions across the country and increased concerns regarding climate challenges.

Pakistan continues to face climate pressure

Pakistan has witnessed frequent heatwaves, rising summer temperatures, and changing rainfall patterns in recent years. Experts have repeatedly warned that climate change could continue to impact agriculture, water resources, and daily life across the country.

The latest Economic Survey further emphasized how rapidly temperatures are increasing compared to previous decades.

Recent months have already brought extreme heat conditions to several cities, with temperatures crossing dangerous levels in parts of Sindh and Balochistan.

Weather experts stress climate awareness

Environmental experts continue urging stronger climate awareness and long term planning to deal with rising temperatures and unpredictable weather conditions.
