From May 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) welcomed an unprecedented 9.3 million tourists to its scenic sites, marking a significant boost in the province’s tourism sector. This remarkable achievement was revealed during a recent meeting on tourism chaired by Zahid Chan Zeb, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Tourism and Culture.
Record-Breaking Tourism Figures
The meeting, attended by the Secretary of the Tourism Department and the Director Generals of various Tourism Authorities, highlighted the impressive growth in visitor numbers during the summer season. Zahid Chan Zeb expressed his delight over the tourism boom, attributing it to the concerted promotional efforts by all the authorities within the Tourism Department KP.
Promotional Activities Drive Growth
The influx of tourists is largely due to the effective tourism promotional activities organized by the department. These initiatives have successfully drawn a significant number of visitors, eager to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Commendations and Future Plans
Advisor Zahid Chan Zeb commended the Tourism Department for their hard work in attracting tourists to the province. He also announced the upcoming resumption of cultural activities at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar, which is expected to further enhance the cultural landscape of the region.
Registration and Compliance Directives
During the meeting, stakeholders in Adventure Tourism were urged to register promptly with the Tourism Services Wing to ensure proper management and regulation. Additionally, Zahid Chan Zeb instructed all Tourism Authorities to enforce the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Rest Houses and Tourism Properties (Development, Management, and Regulation) Act 2020.
Enhancing Digital Presence
To facilitate tourists and provide updated information, all Tourism Authorities were directed to upload relevant data on the KP Tourism website and mobile app. This move is aimed at making it easier for tourists to access information about tourist spots, accommodations, and other facilities available in the region.
