HowKarachi: After a while, Karachi has experienced record-breaking rain. However, it is not the first time that Karachi had faced continuous rain but this time it almost sank. Karachi not only got the sink but remain in darkness for over 72 hours, which is a shame for the management. Karachi grosses the highest revenues and still, it has been treated like a halfbrother.
More than 550 K-Electric (KE) feeders tripped Sunday in the metropolis after a third rain spell lashed the area, leaving several parts of the city without electricity including DHA, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, FB Area, Liaquatabad, PIB Colony, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Korangi, Old City Area, and more. Also, these areas sank in water after the third spell of monsoon in Karachi between July 26 and July 27, which was forecasted by the MET Office.
KE said it would restore power as soon as it was secure. A spokesman for the power supplier said the supply of low-lying areas with electricity had been halted, and those with kundas. The spokesperson said, “We urge government departments to work as quickly as possible to drain the water out of these areas”
Highest Recorded Rainfall:

Rainfall in Karachi
According to data provided by the MET Office, the highest rainfall was recorded in Gulistan-e-Johar, at 66 millimeters (mm), while 55 mm was registered at Old Airport, 55 mm in Pehlwan Goth, 42 mm in Malir. In addition, a spokesperson said, “Karachi city could face urban flooding”
Separately, a rain emergency was declared at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) on the orders of Provincial Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, a KWSB spokesperson said.
The First Spell Of Torrential Rains:
The first spell of torrential rains had wreaked havoc in the metropolis earlier on July 7, bringing the much-feared load-shedding in multiple neighborhoods amid claims from the sole power supply firm, the K-Electric, that it had made improvements in its system ahead of the thunderstorm warning.

According to data provided by the authority, the highest rainfall was recorded in Saddar, at 43 millimeters (mm), while 26 mm was registered at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Faisal Base, 22mm in Nazimabad, 12mm at PAF Masroor Base, 8.8mm at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, 3.1mm in Landhi, and 1.2mm in Surjani Town.
Areas That Remain In Darkness Even After Several Hours Of Rain:

The city of lights in dark even after 3 days of rain
Without a doubt, it is a shame that even after several years the management could not fix the issue of uncontrollable rain. Whether it was a posh area or impoverished area, all remain underwater and in darkness. The following areas were affected by Karachi rain and poor management:
- DHA
- Malir
- Shah Faisal Colony
- Gulistan-e-Johar
- Gulshan-e-Iqbal
- FB Area
- Liaquatabad
- PIB Colony
- Gulshan-e-Maymar
- Korangi
- Old City Area
Uncountable Problems Faced By The Citizens:

Karachi: Clifton underpass
The citizens had to face a lot of problems that are uncountable and very serious. Many of them got stuck in the rain and could not reach home. On the other hand, those who were at home were unable to get enough assets for their living. As knee to waist level water was outside the houses. However, during the second spell of monsoon on July 17, two people, including a police officer, had died of electrocution in the city as rain battered the metropolis, leaving the city’s main roads and streets submerged in water.
Moreover, for a consecutive 3 days, the network connection was disabled and fluctuates for a very long. This has impacted too, as there was a limited resource to contact. Also, the cellular data was limited due to the network disability. In addition, in most of the areas, the internet connection was disabled.
It seems like;
Karachi was not only flooded by water but by; poor management, power breakdown, network disability, no internet connection, limited resources, and more

Appeal For The Karachi’s Condition. “Karachi Does Not Deserve To Be Treated Like A Trash”
Karachi is the capital of the Pakistani province of Sindh and the largest city in Pakistan does not deserve to be treated like this. However, Karachi is now Pakistan’s premier industrial and financial center. The city has a formal economy estimated to be worth $114 billion as of 2014 which is the largest in Pakistan. Karachi collects more than a third of Pakistan’s tax revenue and generates approximately 20% of Pakistan’s GDP.
Does it deserve to be treated like it has been?
Therefore, there is an appeal to C.M. Saeed Ghani and other management to take care of the central hub of finance of Pakistan. And let the peoples of Karachi to be treated as humans.
