The makers of Ghabrana Nahi Hai had designed, conceptualized, and executed the film as a mass entertainer. And then, Covid brought the world to a halt. They waited patiently for around two years for cinemas to reopen. And the wait was worth it! After having watched Ghabrana Nahi Hai, we genuinely feel that it is a well-made Pakistani film, we have seen in a very long time.
Ghabrana Nahi Hai is a big-ticket film that offers loads of comedy, action, romance, drama, and emotions. Come to think of it, a lot is riding on Ghabrana Nahi Hai. Producer Jamil Baignot just invests his trust in debutant director (Saqib Khan) but also works with 17 new actors and technicians.
So, did the risk paid off? Yes, it did! Ghabrana Nahi Hai hits the bull’s eye, you can’t help but exclaim, this one’s a paisa-vasool entertainer.
The Plot
Let’s shed light on the premise of Ghabrana Nahi Hai! Zuby aka Zuabida (Saba Qamar) a middle-class girl from Faisalabad comes to Karachi to seek justice for the fraud done to her father’s plot. Bhai Miyan (Nayyer Ejaz) is a big land mafia in Karachi and no one dares to mess with him. She seeks help from a police officer Sikander (Zahid Ahmed) who is corrupt to the core and is the left hand of Bhai Miyan. Vicky (Syed Jibran) is Zubi’s cousin and aims to marry her. Will Zubi succeed in getting her father’s plot back? What happens next forms the rest of the film.
The Highpoints
Ghabrana Nahi Hai comes across as an exception because the smartly-packaged fare never loses focus from its core issue (Zubi’s motive to fight the corrupt land mafia), Khan employs the right tricks to woo the entertainment-seeking spectator, abundant turns in the screenplay, the faceoff between good and bad, the humor, the nail-biting finale and the message that the film communicates resonates loud and clear.
The Technical Brilliance
The screenplay by Saqib Khan and Mohsin Ali is padded with the right ingredients. Dialogue by Mohsin Ali too are well worded and fits seamlessly in the narrative. The DoP AsradKhan captures the scale of the film without any hiccup. The background score by Sohail keys is effectual. Music by ShujaHaider could have been better. A couple of chartbuster songs would be cheery on the cake.
The Performances
The show-stealer of Ghabrana Nahi Hai is indeed the firebrand actress Saba Qamar, who as Zubaida, towers over everyone. She proves yet again that she is the finest actress in the industry. Both the debutant heroes have done full justice. Zahid is a sheer treat to watch on the big screen. He gets the cop act perfect. Syed Jibran is the surprise package of Ghabrana Nahi Hai. He entertains the audience with the maximum gags. He is lovable in the part as the innocent guy madly in love with her cousin. The supporting members who stand out include Nayyar Ejaz(excellent), Dodi Khan (very good) Afzal Khan (first-rate), Sohail Ahmed (effective). But a special mention goes to SaleemMairaj whose act will be greeted with whistles and claps. He is simply phenomenal.
Final Word
On the whole, Ghabrana Nahi Hai is a buffet that has something for everyone: stars, comedy, action, and entertainment. Saqib Khan presents a Blockbuster package this Eid-ul-Fitr that’s sure to bring the audience back to cinemas in large numbers. SMASHING HIT
