Achieving the desired results in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test has just become more attainable. The British Council has launched a groundbreaking feature called ‘One Skill Retake,’ which offers test takers the opportunity to improve their scores by retaking just one section of the IELTS test, whether it’s Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking.
One Skill Retake
This innovative approach retains the format and timing of the test for the specific skill being examined, mirroring a standard IELTS test section. However, test takers now have the option to save time by focusing solely on the skill they wish to enhance, eliminating the need to reattempt all four sections.
Andrew Mackenzie, Director of IELTS at the British Council, emphasized that ‘One Skill Retake’ was developed in response to feedback from IELTS customers. He stated, “We know that with the right preparation and support, our test takers can achieve their best score on test day. However, ‘One Skill Retake’ provides test takers with an opportunity to retake a single skill if they feel their performance in the first instance did not represent their English proficiency, and we believe this increases fairness.”
Benefits of One Skill Retake
This new option extends benefits beyond test takers. Organizations that accept the IELTS One Skill Retake can offer candidates the flexibility to meet entry requirements without compromising on applicant quality. It reflects the IELTS partners’ commitment to assisting test takers in realizing their full potential.
Maarya Rehman, Deputy Director of the British Council in Pakistan, expressed the organization’s dedication to empowering IELTS test takers in Pakistan to achieve their best scores. The British Council is the only major high-stakes test provider to introduce this innovative option, further emphasizing its commitment to helping test takers reach their full potential.
Test takers who choose the IELTS One Skill Retake will receive a second Test Report Form, which can be used for migration and study purposes. Depending on their score, they can decide whether to use their old or new test report for the skill they retake. IELTS One Skill Retake can be scheduled within 60 days of the original IELTS test.
This game-changing feature promises greater convenience and flexibility for IELTS test takers, ultimately enhancing their opportunities for success in English proficiency assessments.
