Atif Aslam, one of Pakistan’s most beloved playback and pop singers, has finally addressed criticism regarding his recent concerts following the passing of his father. With a career spanning two decades and a massive fan base of over 10 million followers on Instagram, Atif continues to be in the spotlight for both his music and personal choices.
Atif Aslam Responds to Criticism
Currently on tour in Canada, Atif Aslam spoke to Canada-based journalist Faridoon Sheharyar about the backlash he faced for performing shortly after his father’s death.
The singer explained that he often becomes a “rebel” when people question his personal decisions, especially during times of grief. “People criticized me for performing after my father’s death, saying how could I do concerts the very next day,” Atif said. He added that many were using his personal tragedy as a way to generate content for their platforms.
“I realize they are running their channels at the expense of something bad happening in my house. It’s not my job to tell anyone what I should or shouldn’t do. I can’t be related to the whole world. Like me for my art, hate me for my music, but don’t expect me to explain myself,” he stated firmly.

Atif’s response highlights his stance that his art should be judged independently of his personal life. For him, performing on stage is part of his professional responsibility, and he believes the public should respect his boundaries during difficult times.
Despite the criticism, Atif Aslam’s popularity remains strong, and his concerts continue to draw massive crowds both in Pakistan and abroad. Fans worldwide admire his powerful voice and dedication to music, while his recent comments shed light on the emotional struggles artists face under public scrutiny.
