Saudi Arabia is pioneering a new era in healthcare by launching the world’s first clinic where artificial intelligence (AI) leads the diagnosis and treatment process, marking a revolutionary step in medical innovation.
A Groundbreaking Partnership
Opened in April 2025 in the eastern Al Ahsa region, this clinic is the result of a collaboration between Shanghai-based Synyi AI and Saudi Arabia’s Almoosa Health Group. The clinic features “Dr. Hua,” an AI-powered virtual doctor that consults patients through tablets, processes diagnostic data, and creates treatment plans autonomously.
This project is Synyi AI’s first international expansion after years of success in China, working with over 800 hospitals and medical institutions since 2016.
How Dr. Hua Leads Healthcare
Dr. Hua conducts patient consultations by gathering symptom information and analyzing diagnostic data such as ECGs and X-rays. The AI autonomously diagnoses and recommends treatments, taking the lead in clinical decision-making. However, to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance, licensed human doctors review and approve the AI-generated treatment plans before implementation. This hybrid approach blends AI’s efficiency with essential human oversight.
Synyi AI CEO Zhang Shaodian emphasized, “AI has traditionally supported doctors, but now it is taking the front seat to diagnose and treat patients, revolutionizing healthcare delivery.”

Accuracy and Expansion Plans
Internal testing shows Dr. Hua’s error rate is under 0.3%, highlighting its high reliability. Currently, the AI clinic focuses on 30 respiratory diseases, including asthma and pharyngitis, with plans to expand coverage to 50 diseases across respiratory, gastrointestinal, and dermatological fields within the next year.
Towards a Smarter Healthcare Future
During its trial phase, the clinic offers free services while gathering vital data for evaluation by Saudi health authorities. Upon regulatory approval, the AI clinic model will expand to more hospitals in Saudi Arabia and throughout the Middle East, aiming to improve healthcare accessibility, reduce costs, and enhance diagnostic precision.
Saudi Arabia’s AI clinic sets a bold example for the future of medicine, demonstrating how technology can transform patient care with speed, accuracy, and innovation.
