A man from England spent an astonishing $46,335.30 on plastic surgeries to attain the “Instagram model” look.
Dale-Saint Cullen, 31, began his journey with a nose job in 2019, but his quest for physical perfection soon grew into nearly 10 different procedures. These included a chin implant, liposuction, jaw reconstruction, full hair transplant, teeth crowning, and full-body contouring.
Cullen, who previously weighed 315 pounds and had a receding hairline, said these issues “weren’t a problem” until social media became a significant influence in his life.
In pursuit of his ideal look, Cullen traveled 24,000 miles, making 10 trips to Turkey and Poland for his surgeries.
Admitting to being “addicted to chasing a certain look,” he acknowledged feeling pressured by social media. He showed doctors Instagram-filtered photos, saying, “That’s how I wanted to look.”
Now, reflecting on his journey, Cullen admits his pursuit of perfection is a misguide. “Social media made me want fuller lips, fuller hair, and perfect teeth. But it wasn’t until I had it all done that I realized it wasn’t how they looked in real life.”
His story serves as a cautionary tale about the harmful effects of social media on self-esteem and the dangers of striving for an unattainable beauty ideal.
In an interview, he shared, “Every time I was on that flight abroad, I would show doctors filtered pictures on Instagram. That’s how I wanted to look. I was sucked into this vicious cycle of perfection. I spent so much time, money, and energy chasing that perfect look. It’s crazy.”
