Schools, colleges to remain closed on Sep 7 in Sindh

The Sindh Government has decided to close educational institutes in the province on September 07 in connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

In pursuance of the decisions of the Steering Committee on Education, all public and private schools and colleges will remain closed on September 07 in connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

Chehlum, also known as Arbaeen, is a religious observance in Islam that marks the end of the mourning period for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.

It falls on the 20th day of Safar in the Islamic lunar calendar. During Chehlum, Muslims gather for special prayers, processions, and to pay their respects to Imam Hussein and the martyrs of Karbala. It is a significant event for Shia Muslims, and it is observed with solemnity and reverence.
