Saudi Arabia has recently announced stringent penalties for individuals violating Hajj regulations between June 2 and 20. The Interior Ministry’s announcement serves as a warning to citizens, residents, and visitors to adhere to the regulations or face consequences.
During this specified period, anyone caught violating Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit in various areas including Makkah, the vicinity of the Grand Mosque, Hajj sites, the Haramain station in Al-Rusayfah, security control centers, sorting centers, and temporary security control centers will be fined SR 10,000 ($2,666). This announcement aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage and maintain safety and security for all participants.
According to Arab News, violators will not only face fines but also deportation from the Kingdom with a ban on reentry. The Ministry of Interior emphasized the importance of following Hajj regulations to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of pilgrims during their rituals.
Furthermore, individuals found transporting violators of Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit will face severe penalties. They could be imprisoned for up to six months and fined up to SR 50,000. Vehicles used for transporting violators will be confiscated, and expatriates will be deported after serving their prison sentence. The fine will escalate based on the number of people illegally transported, the ministry highlighted.
