The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that the new moon of Ramadan 1447 AH will appear on February 17 at 5:01 PM (PST). Based on this timing, people are likely to sight the Ramadan moon on the evening of February 18, which corresponds to the 29th of Shaban in the Islamic calendar.
Weather conditions are expected to be favorable for moon sighting across the country. Provinces including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan should experience partly cloudy to fair skies. These conditions will allow communities to observe the moon and mark the start of Ramadan.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and its zonal committees will verify the moon sightings before officially announcing the beginning of Ramadan. This traditional process ensures that fasting starts according to Islamic guidelines. Communities across Pakistan will follow the announcement closely to prepare for the holy month.
