Seven Long Weekends Expected in Pakistan During 2026 Holidays

Pakistan’s public holidays schedule for 2026 brings welcome news for workers, students, and families, with seven long weekends expected throughout the year. The official list includes national, religious, and cultural occasions that fall close to weekends, allowing extended breaks.

The holidays span from February to December and offer opportunities for travel, rest, and family gatherings. Many of the key dates align with Fridays, Mondays, or consecutive weekdays, creating convenient long weekends.

Public Holidays and Long Weekend Opportunities

The year begins with Kashmir Day on Thursday, February 5. While it falls on a weekday, many offices may observe extended leave. Pakistan Day on Monday, March 23, provides a direct long weekend opportunity.

Religious holidays contribute significantly to extended breaks. Eid ul Fitr is expected around March 21 to 23, falling on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. This alignment creates a three day holiday period for most sectors.

Labour Day on Friday, May 1, offers another long weekend. Later in the month, Youm e Takbeer on Thursday, May 28, followed by Eid ul Azha from Wednesday to Friday, May 27 to 29, creates one of the longest holiday stretches of the year.

Ashura, observed on Wednesday and Thursday, June 24 and 25, allows employees to take advantage of an extended midweek break. Independence Day on Friday, August 14, also results in a long weekend nationwide.

Another religious holiday, Eid Milad un Nabi, falls on Tuesday, August 25. With an optional leave on Monday, many may enjoy an extended break. Allama Iqbal Day on Monday, November 9, provides another three day weekend.

The year ends with Quaid e Azam Day and Christmas on Friday, December 25. Christians will also observe the day after Christmas on Saturday, December 26, creating a festive year end break.

The public holidays 2026 calendar offers balanced rest periods across the year. Officials believe these breaks support work life balance while allowing citizens to observe important national and religious events.
