PSL 9 Update: Teams Unveil Supplementary and Replacement Players for the Upcoming Season

As the excitement builds for the upcoming 9th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), teams have announced a roster of supplementary and replacement players during the recently held Replacement Draft conducted over a conference call.

Peshawar Zalmi has made strategic replacements, drafting Waqar Salamkheil in the silver category for the unavailable Lungi Ngidi. Additionally, Khurram Shahzad, partially available, will be replaced by pacer Arshad Iqbal. Gus Atkinson is set to take the place of Noor Ahmed, while the team has kept a spot open for the replacement of the partially available Naveenul Haq.

Lahore Qalandars have reserved their picks for Rashid Khan and Dan Lawrence, who are fully and partially unavailable, respectively. Islamabad United, too, has secured a spot for the unavailable Tom Curran. Karachi Kings have brought in Zahid Mehmood as a partial replacement for Kieron Pollard and reserved a pick for the later availability of Tim Seifert.

Quetta Gladiators will see Bismillah Khan stepping in for Wanindu Hasaranga due to international commitments. The Replacement Draft also featured exciting selections in the supplementary rounds.

Peshawar Zalmi secured left-arm pacer Luke Wood in the first pick of the third supplementary round, while Islamabad United acquired left-arm pacer Obed McCoy. Karachi Kings added English middle-order batter Leus De Plooy, and Lahore Qalandars welcomed Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Multan Sultans picked experienced West Indian wicketkeeper-batter Johnson Charles, and Quetta Gladiators chose English batter Laurie Evans.

The fourth round of supplementary picks saw Multan Sultans snagging the promising 19-year-old Muhammad Shahzad, and Islamabad United added Haider Ali to their squad for his fifth HBL PSL season. Quetta Gladiators reserved their pick in the fourth round, while Peshawar Zalmi brought in left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem. Lahore Qalandars selected Tayyab Abbas, and Karachi Kings drafted the 21-year-old Mohammad Rohid.

With these exciting additions, PSL 9 promises to be a thrilling spectacle with teams gearing up for an action-packed season starting from February 17.
