Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have taken a major step to strengthen their relationship. On Wednesday, both countries signed an agreement that allows visa-free entry for diplomatic and official passport holders. The signing took place during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission in Abu Dhabi.
Senator Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the session with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Their participation highlighted the importance of this renewed commitment to cooperation.
Visa-Free Entry and Beyond
The visa agreement simplifies travel for government officials and diplomats. It will make official visits more efficient and create more opportunities for high-level collaboration.

Beyond the visa exemption, the two nations signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). These agreements aim to boost cooperation in investment, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy. Both sides are looking to expand ties in emerging technology and innovation.
A Renewed Commitment After 13 Years
This was the first Joint Ministerial Commission meeting between Pakistan and the UAE in almost 13 years. Officials on both sides reviewed cooperation in trade, energy, aviation, agriculture, climate change, and labor. Their goal is to open new doors for mutual progress.
The countries also agreed to hold the next Joint Ministerial Commission session in Pakistan. This will continue the momentum created by the recent agreements.
Pakistan and the UAE share long-standing economic and diplomatic ties. The latest Pakistan UAE visa agreement adds more strength to this bond. It also sets the stage for smoother official travel and closer government-to-government collaboration.
While this agreement currently benefits only diplomatic and official passport holders, it reflects growing trust. It may lead to even broader travel and business facilitation in the future.
