Man Arrested After Faking Heart Attacks in 20 Restaurants to Avoid Paying Bills

In Spain’s Costa Blanca, a bizarre case has made headlines after a 50-year-old Lithuanian man fakes heart attacks at more than 20 restaurants just to skip paying his bills.

The Strange Scam

Authorities revealed that the man had turned the dine-and-dash trick into an unusual performance. His routine involved ordering expensive meals and drinks, including lobster, entrecôte, and whiskey shots. Once the bill arrived, he would suddenly clutch his chest, fall to the ground, and pretend to suffer a heart attack. Staff members, worried for his health, would rush to help him while he avoided settling the check.

Local reports confirmed that he successfully pulled this stunt in at least 20 different restaurants across Costa Blanca. Each unpaid bill ranged between €15 and €70, which, when added up, caused significant losses for businesses in the area.

Arrest and Jail Time

The elaborate scheme eventually caught up with him when multiple restaurants reported similar incidents to police. Authorities arrested him and later sentenced him to jail for 42 days. His case quickly went viral, with many social media users shocked by the lengths he went to avoid paying relatively small amounts.

Restaurant owners described the man’s actions as both disruptive and damaging, not only financially but also in terms of wasted time and resources.

While the unpaid bills may not seem large individually, the repeated fraud highlighted how creative yet destructive such scams can be. For now, his short jail term has brought some relief to restaurant owners, but the case remains a reminder of the unusual extremes some people go to in order to dodge responsibility.

This unusual story has sparked conversations online, with many comparing it to a soap opera performance, but the case of the man fakes heart attacks in restaurants shows how bizarre actions can still have very real consequences.
