Saudi Arabia has suspended agreements with 1,800 foreign Umrah travel agencies after identifying serious service and performance issues. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the decision as part of its ongoing efforts to improve services for pilgrims visiting the holy sites.
Officials said the suspended agencies failed to meet required service standards. These standards focus on compliance, operational efficiency, and pilgrim care. The ministry stated that the action aims to strengthen oversight and ensure reliable services across the Umrah sector.
The Umrah travel industry includes around 5,800 agencies worldwide. The suspension affects a large number of operators. However, the ministry clarified that the decision only impacts the issuance of new Umrah visas. Pilgrims holding valid visas or confirmed bookings will continue with their travel plans without disruption.
