Pakistan Introduces Mobile Payment System for Driving License Fees

Pakistan has introduced a new digital payment system that allows citizens to pay driving license fees through mobile applications. The initiative aims to simplify the process and improve accessibility for applicants across the country.

The National Highways and Motorway Police launched the system as part of broader efforts to modernize public services. Officials say the move will reduce reliance on traditional banking channels and make transactions more convenient.

Digital system aims to improve convenience

Under the new system, citizens can pay driving license fees using mobile platforms such as Easypaisa, JazzCash, and various banking applications. This allows users to complete payments without visiting physical bank branches.

Authorities have implemented the system in collaboration with the National Bank of Pakistan. QR code machines have been installed at the Islamabad Driving Licensing Authority to support digital transactions.

Officials have also started expanding the system to other cities. Installations are underway in locations such as Sheikhupura and Quetta, with plans to extend the service nationwide.

The introduction of digital payments is expected to reduce processing times. Applicants can receive real time payment confirmation, which helps speed up the overall licensing process.

Focus on efficiency and public service

The launch ceremony was led by Deputy Inspector General Operations Asghar Ali. He highlighted the importance of adopting technology to improve public service delivery.

The system aims to eliminate the need for manual payment procedures and reduce queues at banks. By shifting to digital platforms, authorities expect to make the process more efficient for both applicants and administrative staff.

This initiative reflects a broader trend of digital transformation in public sector services. Government departments are increasingly adopting technology to streamline operations and improve user experience.
