Basant Celebrations Drive Rs 18 Crore Business on Second Day

Preparations for Basant are in full swing in Lahore as markets witnessed massive business activity on the second day of celebrations. The sale of kites and kite strings remained strong, reflecting the continued popularity of the festival and its deep cultural roots in the city.

According to the Legal Advisor of the Kite Flying Association, market sales on the second day crossed Rs 18 crore. This followed a strong first day, during which business exceeded Rs 16 crore. In just two days, the combined sale of kites and string crossed Rs 32 crore, highlighting the scale of economic activity linked to Basant.

Market sources confirmed that demand continued to rise throughout the day. Kite shops, wholesale outlets, and street vendors remained busy from early morning until late evening. The steady flow of customers showed no sign of slowing down as celebrations gained momentum.

Strong demand fuels business across Lahore

Traders reported that on the second day alone, more than 600,000 bundles of kites were sold across various markets in Lahore. In addition, around 15,000 spools of kite string were purchased by buyers. Popular markets dealing in Basant supplies stayed packed, with customers lining up to buy kites of different colors and sizes.

Shopkeepers said the festive atmosphere encouraged bulk buying. Families, young people, and visitors actively participated in kite flying, which directly boosted sales. Many traders noted that demand remained consistent throughout the day rather than peaking for a short period.

The strong sales provided a welcome boost for small shopkeepers and wholesalers. For many vendors, Basant remains one of the most profitable times of the year. The increased footfall helped related businesses as well, including transporters and suppliers linked to the kite trade.

The lively markets reflected the strong emotional connection people have with Basant. Despite challenges and restrictions in previous years, the festival continues to attract large crowds. The ongoing demand shows that Basant still holds a special place in Lahore’s cultural life.

Market analysts believe the high sales figures underline the festival’s economic importance. The large scale buying not only supports traders but also generates income for workers involved in manufacturing and distribution.

As celebrations continue, traders expect sales to remain strong in the coming days. The growing demand suggests that Basant will once again play a key role in energizing Lahore’s markets and reinforcing its status as a major cultural event in the city.
