Australia beat Pakistan by eight wickets in third Test

Australia sealed a convincing eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the third Test, completing a clean sweep of the series with wins in Perth and Melbourne. David Warner, in his farewell Test, played a crucial role with a fairy-tale half-century that propelled Australia to chase down the 130-run target on the fourth day at the SCG.

The day began with a resilient effort from Mohammad Rizwan and Aamir Jamal, who provided solid resistance during the first hour. Rizwan contributed 28 runs before falling to Nathan Lyon, while Aamir was caught by Travis Head at deep square leg for 18. Lyon took the last wicket, dismissing Hasan Ali as Pakistan were bowled out for 115.

Australia faced an early setback with the dismissal of Usman Khawaja for a duck, but David Warner’s aggressive batting, featuring switch-hits and reverse sweeps, put Australia back on track. Warner’s innings of 57 off 75 balls set the stage for a comfortable victory. Marnus Labuschagne, finishing unbeaten on 62, and with support from other batsmen, ensured Australia reached the target with ease.

Sajid Khan removed Warner just before lunch, but Labuschagne guided Australia to victory, securing the series sweep. Aamir Jamal was named the Player of the Match for his stellar performance in the first innings, while Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, was awarded the Player of the Series for his outstanding contribution of 19 wickets throughout the series.

The post-match presentation ceremony featured heartfelt tributes for David Warner, who received a signed Babar Azam jersey as a parting gift from Pakistan skipper Shan Masood. The comprehensive series win highlighted Australia’s dominance, with standout performances from both retiring and emerging players.
