Amazon is stepping deeper into the world of AI-powered development with the launch of Amazon Kiro AI coding, a new tool that helps developers write code using artificial intelligence. Introduced by Amazon Web Services (AWS) on July 14, 2025, Kiro is now available in preview and already gaining attention across the tech industry.
Kiro is more than just a coding assistant. It helps developers by generating complete code structures. Building flow diagrams, and creating task lists before any code is even written. This approach is part of what many in the industry are calling vibe coding, where software is created with minimal manual input. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a post that Kiro could transform how developers build software in the future.
Kiro Works Only in English
In this preview version, Amazon Kiro AI coding works only in English and uses models from Amazon-backed AI firm Anthropic. AWS has confirmed that support for other languages and model options will be added soon. Developers can interact with Kiro through chat and guide it through tasks. Like system design and project planning, making it ideal for team collaboration.
AWS also highlighted that content from premium users will not be used to train AI models. Free users will have the option to opt out. A free version and a premium subscription plan will both be available after the preview ends, offering developers flexible access.

Kiro’s release comes shortly after Google announced a major AI move of its own by acquiring staff from Windsurf, an AI coding startup. With Microsoft also adding agent modes to its tools. Big tech companies are racing to lead the next generation of smart software development.
Amazon’s launch of Kiro shows that AI coding tools are no longer a future concept. They are now reshaping the way real developers work today.
