Advantages of the tax amnesty scheme proposed by the government

KARACHI, February XX, 2017: On the 6th of December, the Federal government of Pakistan (FBR) approved a one-time tax amnesty scheme giving a unique chance to owners of real estate to make their immovable property good in the eyes of the tax man. The buyer of the property will pay just 3% of the differential income (the difference between the value of the immovable property as determined by the FBR and the amount assessed by the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office). Brazil (US$ 15.8 billion) and Argentina (US$ 90 billion) enjoyed positive amnesties in the past adding a significant contribution to tax takes in both countries.
