A heartbreaking road accident in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of seven Pakistani Umrah pilgrims, all from a single family residing in Dagai Khudokhel, Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The family had arrived in the Kingdom just 11 days before to perform Umrah.
According to ARY News, four of the deceased were children. Five other family members sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. Relatives have confirmed that funeral prayers for the victims will take place in Saudi Arabia.

The loss comes just days after Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed that 18 Pakistani pilgrims had passed away during Hajj 2025 due to natural causes, including heart conditions. They were all laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi in Medina.
While Hajj 2025 saw improved safety compared to the previous year thanks to new health protocols, cooling strategies, and better crowd management this separate road accident reminds authorities and families of the need for broader safety planning during religious travel.
Saudi officials reported over 1.6 million international pilgrims from 171 countries took part in Hajj this year. Efforts to safeguard pilgrims included advanced heat management systems, especially after 2024’s extreme temperatures caused more than 1,300 deaths.
