The UK visa for Pakistanis just got easier as the United Kingdom launches a new e-Visa system. This digital upgrade applies to most students and workers applying for stays longer than six months.
The announcement came from the British High Commission in Islamabad, with UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott confirming the update on social media. The move aims to simplify the visa process and offer greater convenience for eligible applicants.
Pakistanis No Longer Need to Submit Passports for Stickers
Under the new system, visa applicants no longer need to hand over their passports for physical visa stickers. Instead, successful applicants will receive a digital record of their immigration status through a secure UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) online account.

The e-Visa works as an official confirmation of a person’s permission to enter or remain in the UK. It also outlines any conditions tied to the visa. Users can easily access and share this information using the “view and prove” service, especially useful when dealing with landlords, employers, or universities.
This update covers a wide range of visa types, including:
- Student visas (including 11-month short-term study)
- Skilled worker visas (including health and care roles)
- Global talent and international sportsperson visas
- Temporary work routes (charity, creative, and others)
- Youth Mobility Scheme and Global Business Mobility routes
However, dependents and visitors will still receive physical visa stickers for now. The UK government plans to expand the e-Visa system to all categories in the near future.
Current holders of a UK visa for Pakistanis with physical documents do not need to take any action. Their visa status remains valid and unchanged.
This digital transition is expected to streamline the visa process and improve security, offering Pakistani applicants a faster and more efficient way to manage their UK immigration journey.
