James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie has just dropped an exciting new Superman Trailer. In this footage, Superman (played by David Corenswet) faces extreme challenges but also gets help from a surprising source: a team of medical robots.
The trailer opens with Superman in dire circumstances, badly injured and struggling to move. He calls out for his dog, Krypto, to drag him home. The scene is darkly humorous, showing Superman flopping around as if all his bones are broken. However, the humor quickly shifts as Krypto drags Superman to a reimagined Fortress of Solitude, where a group of cape-wearing robots is waiting to assist him.
These robots, who seem to be designed for medical purposes, work to heal Superman using a unique method. They focus sunlight on him in an effort to restore his powers and fix his broken body. This new approach to Superman’s recovery adds a fresh and visually interesting twist to the story.
The Superman Trailer also shows other key characters in the movie, including Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion).
James Gunn is clearly steering Superman into a more imaginative and playful direction. The presence of quirky robots and new methods for healing Superman’s injuries suggests a fresh take on the superhero genre.
