PCB Reportedly Fines Each Player Rs. 5 Million After T20 World Cup Exit

The PCB Rs 5 million fine decision has reportedly been communicated to each player after Pakistan’s disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

According to media reports, board officials informed the players about the decision immediately after the team’s defeat to India. The PCB reportedly made it clear that future financial incentives will depend strictly on performance rather than routine benefits.

Pakistan’s Struggling Campaign

Pakistan’s World Cup campaign lacked consistency from the start. The team narrowly defeated the Netherlands before securing a win against the United States. However, they failed to deliver in the high-pressure clash against India, despite having experience in the conditions and a squad equipped with strong spin options.

Pakistan later defeated Namibia to qualify for the Super 8 stage. Still, concerns about form and momentum continued to follow the team.

In the Super 8s, Pakistan’s match against New Zealand was washed out due to rain. A loss to England then placed their semi-final hopes in jeopardy. Although England’s victory over New Zealand briefly kept Pakistan’s chances alive, a narrow win against Sri Lanka failed to improve their net run rate sufficiently. As a result, New Zealand advanced, and Pakistan’s tournament campaign came to an end.

PCB Signals Accountability

Sources suggest that PCB officials expressed strong dissatisfaction over the team’s overall performance. The board reportedly emphasized that while strong performances earn rewards, poor results will carry consequences.

The PCB Rs 5 million fine per player is being viewed as a clear message from the board that accountability standards are tightening. Reports also indicate that the PCB may announce further strict measures in the coming days.

With the tournament concluded, the board is expected to conduct a detailed review of the team’s campaign and broader direction. The reported fines mark the first significant step in what could become a wider restructuring or performance-based policy shift within Pakistan cricket.
