The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts widespread rainfall across the country, bringing relief to the ongoing heatwave. This weather change is set to begin today. Karachi and Hyderabad in the south will remain hot, with only a small chance of rain. However, other regions will experience more significant rainfall.
According to the PMD, rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms and hail are expected in several areas. Islamabad and its surroundings will see partly cloudy skies, with heavy downpours forecast for some places.
Rain and hailstorms are also predicted in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in districts like Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Abbottabad. Other areas like Mansehra, Haripur, Shangla, Buner, and Waziristan are also on alert.
In Punjab, areas such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and Attock will experience rain, along with Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot. Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, and Faisalabad are likely to witness thunderstorms and hail. Additional areas such as Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, and Bahawalnagar may also see rainfall.
In Sindh, evening and night thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Ghotki, and Shikarpur, with similar weather in Khairpur and Larkana. Balochistan’s Quetta, Ziarat, and Zhob may receive rainfall later today. Other districts, including Pishin, Killa Abdullah, and Chaman, will also be affected.
The PMD has warned the public and authorities to stay alert and take necessary precautions due to the changing weather conditions. While light overnight showers have already improved weather in Peshawar, dust storms and hail remain a concern in lowland areas.
