Pakistan’s flagship fighter jet JF 17 Thunder has once again captured global attention as the Pakistan Air Force secured a major international buyer at the JF17 Dubai Airshow 2025. According to ISPR, a memorandum of understanding has been signed with a friendly country for the purchase of new JF 17 aircraft, marking a significant breakthrough in Pakistan’s defence exports and aviation strength.
The MoU is being hailed as a milestone for Pakistan’s expanding defence and industrial cooperation. ISPR stated that the rising interest in the JF 17 Thunder reflects growing global confidence in Pakistan’s indigenous aviation capabilities. Built jointly by Pakistan and China. The fighter jet has become one of the most sought after cost friendly multirole aircraft in the region.

During the airshow. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu held key meetings with military leaders from several friendly nations. His engagements included detailed discussions with UAE Undersecretary of Defence Lieutenant General Pilot Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi and UAE Air Force and Air Defence Commander Major General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi. Talks centered on expanding cooperation in advanced training, emerging aerospace technologies and operational coordination.
The UAE leadership appreciated the modernisation drive of the Pakistan Air Force and its rapidly improving indigenous production capabilities. Pakistan’s showcase at Dubai Airshow featured the cutting edge JF 17 Block III and the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft. Both of which have drawn interest from multiple countries.

The JF 17 Block III has recently earned global praise following its strong battlefield performance in Marka e Haq. Pakistan’s retaliatory operation after Indian strikes earlier this year. The aircraft played a critical role as Pakistan successfully targeted more than twenty Indian military sites and destroyed an S 400 air defence system in Adampur using advanced hypersonic missiles.
India’s actions on May 5 and 6 which New Delhi claimed were focused on terrorist hideouts resulted in the martyrdom of several Pakistani civilians and security personnel. Pakistan’s immediate and precise response strengthened international confidence in the operational capabilities of the JF 17 Thunder.
