The Meta CEO has spent over $110 million acquiring at least 11 properties in the Crescent Park neighborhood. His expansion has turned the once-quiet area into a nearly nonstop construction zone. Heavy machinery, debris, and tight security now dominate the streets.
Some of the acquired homes remain empty, despite a local housing shortage. Others have been transformed into gardens, guest houses, or even a temporary private school. The most ambitious project is his main residence, featuring a 7,000-square-foot underground space, which neighbors describe as a “billionaire’s bat cave.” A similar subterranean setup exists at his estate in Hawaii.
Neighbors report relentless noise, street congestion, and a “fortress-like” atmosphere. In response, Zuckerberg’s team distributed noise-canceling headphones along with sparkling wine and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The gesture aimed to ease tensions, but reactions are mixed.
While a spokesperson said the family strives to minimize disruption, residents feel the gifts barely compensate for the drastic change in their neighborhood. Many long-time locals are concerned about invasive security measures and the overall impact on the community’s character.
