Karachi, November 25, 2016: Maria Aslam’s Interior Designs of Pakistan 1, a coffee table book, was launched here today by the Pakistan Institute of Interior Designers at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. The event was attended by giants of Pakistan’s interior design industry, celebrities, socialites and select members of the digital, print and electronic media.
A look at the varied body of work by both senior and junior interior designers and architects of Pakistan, with brilliant compositions by Arshad Faruqui, it was no wonder that the book elicited great interest within the architect and designer fraternity, especially.
Guests were treated to talks by senior members of the interior design industry who spoke about the growth and evolution of interior design and architecture in Pakistan and praised the work done by Maria Aslam in her debut book.
Speaking on the occasion, Danish Zuby one of Pakistan’s senior-most interior designers, highlighted the evolution and growth of the industry and mentioned that the book is an excellent archival source for teaching purposes.
Also speaking on the occasion was Shahid Abdullah who forms one half of the architectural practice Arshad Shahid Abdulla with his brother. He spoke at length about the book and the birth of architecture in post-partition Pakistan.
Naheed Mashooqullah addressed the guests and talked about design philosophy and how architects of yesteryear affect the designs of today, and the role the book would play for future designers. Jahangir Khan Sherpao the renowned architect/ city planner also expressed his views on design, architecture and the history of the industry on this occasion.
Last but not least, Maria Aslam the creative force behind the book Interior Designs of Pakistan 1 took to the stage and elaborated on the inspiration and hard work that went into creating the book. She also expanded on the fact that the book is ideal not just for interior designers but also for anyone with even a casual interest in architecture and design. The talks by the author and the senior architects and interior designers were illuminating and kept the audience captive.
The evening concluded with book signing by the author and light refreshments where the subject of conversation ranged from architecture to design philosophies to the future of this industry. All in all the evening was a classy and intellectual affair and certainly engaged the interest of all attendees.

Wherever an effort is witnessed, must be appreciated, especially in a country or region with zillions of issues. Although I haven’t seen your book however being in interior business, I very much appreciate such addition to the world of interior and art.
