A tragic incident occurred during heavy monsoon showers when a lightning strike in Thar Parkar claimed the life of a man and killed 23 animals in separate villages. The rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, continued across the region, worsening the situation for residents.
Details of the Incident
The deadly strike hit a katcha hut in Pasol village, Nagar Parkar, where 32-year-old Taro Kohli was asleep. He lost his life instantly after lightning struck his home during the rainfall.
In addition to human loss, livestock suffered a major blow. Reports confirm that 21 goats and two cows died in villages Mithrio Halepota, Rojh, and Dhanbhario. Locals said the animals were grazing in the open when lightning struck, leaving families devastated as livestock is often their main source of livelihood.
Rising Toll of Cattle Deaths
Officials from the district livestock department shared alarming statistics, revealing that since June 14, at least 193 cattle have died in Thar Parkar due to lightning strikes. The repeated incidents highlight the severe risks faced by rural communities during monsoon season.
Precautionary Measures
Authorities have urged residents to take safety measures during thunderstorms. The provincial health department advised avoiding open spaces, fields, and isolated shelters when lightning activity is high. They also encouraged villagers to seek protection in safer buildings during heavy rains.
