Karachi to Receive Rain and Strong Winds Over Next Few Days

Karachi is set to experience rainfall starting the night of April 1 as a westerly weather system moves across Pakistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The PMD has urged residents to stay alert and follow official weather advisories as conditions develop over the coming days.

The broader weather system entered Pakistan through Balochistan and will reach Karachi later than other regions due to its eastward movement across the country.

What Karachi Residents Should Expect

Rainfall chances will increase significantly on April 2, with showers continuing into April 3. Some areas of the city may receive up to 50mm or more during the spell. Strong winds with gusts potentially reaching 50 kilometres per hour or higher will accompany the rain, raising concerns about damage to weak structures and infrastructure.

Authorities have warned that thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible hail may pose serious risks. Electricity infrastructure, billboards, solar panels, and standing crops in surrounding areas could all face damage during the spell.

The PMD expects the broader system to remain active until April 4, with a possibility of extending beyond that date. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel during peak weather hours and stay updated through official channels as the situation develops.
