A bold new landmark is now rising on Margalla Avenue in Islamabad. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started building a massive public sculpture that aims to boost the city’s image and enhance entry-point aesthetics.
A Glowing Welcome to the Capital
Two golden hands now stand tall on a concrete base. Each hand lifts a glowing sphere, designed to light up from within. This glowing design will serve as a visual highlight for commuters entering the city, especially at night.
Construction teams used cranes to place the metallic globes with precision. Workers then wrapped the pedestal in protective sheets as they prepared for the final finishing. The structure, once complete, will tower above the road and act as a visual marker for Margalla Avenue landmark.

This stretch of road connects the northern sectors of Islamabad to the Grand Trunk Road. In recent years, it has seen rapid upgrades. The CDA added greenbelts and modern lighting to give the road a fresh and polished look. These changes reflect the capital’s focus on infrastructure and identity.
Social media has played a big role in bringing attention to this project. Residents have shared images from the construction site, and most responses have been positive. People see the sculpture as a modern symbol of civic pride and creativity.
The CDA believes that this installation will strengthen Islamabad’s identity. By combining art with infrastructure, the city aims to leave a lasting impression on both locals and visitors.
