Islamabad bans loudspeakers fireworks and public gatherings for two months

Islamabad announces a citywide ban on loudspeakers and fireworks as part of a series of strict restrictions aimed at maintaining peace and preventing potential unrest in the federal capital. The district administration confirmed that these measures will remain effective for the next two months.

According to official notifications issued by Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, the use of loudspeakers, sound systems, and amplifiers has been completely prohibited. Only Azan and Friday sermons will be allowed to use sound equipment. The administration stated that this step is necessary to curb the spread of inflammatory content and protect public order.

Authorities have also banned cassette players, CD or DVD systems, or any medium that could deliver sectarian or objectionable speeches. The use of newspapers or rough paper containing Quranic verses for wrapping or packaging is now prohibited across Islamabad.

Major Restrictions Placed Across the Capital

In another major step, the sale, purchase, storage, or use of crackers and fireworks has been outlawed. The administration also imposed a strict ban on displaying or carrying firearms. Only members of the armed forces, Rangers, police, and paramilitary forces are exempted from this prohibition.

Boating at Rawal Dam and Simly Dam has also been stopped. Officials explained that this is a safety measure meant to prevent accidents and unauthorized gatherings near water bodies. Similarly, the administration has banned the illegal sale and unsafe storage of petrol in residential and commercial areas.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles or drones, along with stone extraction through blasting or crushing, has also been restricted to prevent security threats.

Another important directive prohibits handing out pamphlets, posters, or handbills that could offend any religious sect. Wall chalking with similar intent is also banned.

The administration has extended the restrictions to all gatherings involving five or more individuals. This includes protests, rallies, processions, and any form of public demonstration. Officials said this move aims to stop disorder and maintain social peace.

To reduce mosquito breeding, the district administration has banned the accumulation of fresh water in scrap yards, construction sites, buildings, and public spaces. The unauthorized storage or display of tyres is also prohibited under the anti dengue initiative.

The administration confirmed that all these restrictions will remain in force for two months. Officials stated that the measures are preventive and will help maintain harmony during sensitive periods in the capital.
