Renowned TV anchor Iqrar Ul Hassan announced the launch of a new political party, Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek, at the Lahore Press Club. He said the party aims to drive political change and offer a fresh perspective to citizens.
Iqrar emphasized that he will not hold any position in the party or accept any government role. “I swear by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) that I will not take any party or official post,” he said. This shows that the party intends to focus on people rather than personal or political gain.
A Democratic Platform for the People
Iqrar described Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek as a democratic initiative that belongs to the citizens. He stated that no single individual or family will control the party, and leadership will not be inherited. Iqrar Ul Hassan party will start activities across Pakistan soon, aiming to involve communities and engage voters.
He explained that Pakistan’s conventional political system no longer reflects the views of younger voters, especially Generation Z. Previously, he urged senior politicians, including former prime minister Imran Khan, to step aside. Those comments caused backlash from PTI supporters, who accused him of siding with the establishment.
Focus on Political Change
Iqrar said the party seeks to challenge entrenched political norms. It also aims to promote transparency, inclusivity, and citizen participation. Meanwhile, he will remain independent of leadership roles but will serve as a guiding figure for the party’s vision.
